Community partnerships

Being a good neighbor

Enviva is proud to partner with local organizations to support sustainable forest management, conservation, environmental education, and philanthropic initiatives that make a difference in the neighborhoods we call home.

Committed to Safety

Helping the Ahoskie Fire Department

The Ahoskie Fire Department is taking the necessary steps to revise its charter to be classified as a Fire and Rescue unit through upgrades to its equipment and training. Thanks to a $15,000 sponsorship from Enviva, Ahoskie Fire Chief George Michael Bradley is purchasing new equipment and setting up staff training schedules in order to earn a new title – Ahoskie Fire and Rescue Department. Empowering Communities

UCS Dinner Benefits Epes Community Students

Enviva recently announced its plans for a plant at the Port of Epes in Sumter County, Alabama. So, when the opportunity to partner to support the Epes community arose, Enviva welcomed it, sponsoring a dinner on January 16 to benefit students of the University Charter School (UCS), a public charter school in Livingston. All of the proceeds from the event help the school provide innovative and high-quality educational opportunities for schoolchildren throughout the region. UCS serves as a collaborative rural model for producing students with a strong sense of place, mission, and rural identity. Enviva strongly believes in empowering the communities where we live and work, and part of that means supporting the educational needs in our communities. Enviva is discussing plans to partner with UCS and the University of West Alabama to spearhead job training and workforce development programs throughout the county.

Conservation

Restoring the Elizabeth River

Enviva’s port in Chesapeake, VA is an active supporter of the Elizabeth River Project, a local non-profit group that works with residents and businesses to restore this important Chesapeake Bay tributary. We support tree planting and oyster recovery efforts, and our associates participate in River clean-up days. Enviva was honored as a Model Level River Star by the Elizabeth River Project in 2018 for establishing stormwater pollution prevention efforts.

Emergency support

First responders come first

Enviva supports full-time and volunteer fire departments in our communities. These important partners provide critical support for Enviva’s facilities on a regular basis during scheduled training and maintenance activities.

Children’s charities

Log A Load For Kids

Enviva is a proud supporter of the Log A Load for Kids program that raises money for the Children’s Miracle Network. Enviva associates participate in fundraising events throughout the year.

Supporting smart beginnings

Educational programs

Smart Beginnings is a program focused on increasing access to preschool education in the community, particularly for those at or below the poverty line. They work hard to ensure children are set up for success with exposure to age-appropriate learning and development resources by the time they are ready to start going to school. Smart Beginnings also offers free breakfast and lunch programs for food-insecure children. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Smart Beginnings and other community groups in the Franklin area. Children’s enrichment

Sports and educational programs

Enviva works with its community partners to identify needs and provide outreach to youth sports programs and high school athletic teams. We are very proud of our sponsored teams, and many of our associates serve as coaches. Recently, Enviva provided funds to give the town of Faison, NC its first soccer facility. Residents no longer have to travel to another town to participate in soccer. Enviva also seeks opportunities to provide educational opportunities to underserved kids in our communities. Enviva’s partnership with The Institute Of Landscape Art And Sustainable Spaces (ILASS) funded enviroKIDs, a free urban forest/environmental design camp for teens in the Raleigh, NC area.
