Thomas Meth

President and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Meth is a co-founder of Enviva, a leading global renewable energy company specializing in sustainable wood bioenergy. Enviva sells most of its wood pellets through long-term, take-or-pay off-take contracts with creditworthy customers in the United Kingdom, the Caribbean, the European Union, and Japan, helping to accelerate the energy transition and to de-fossilize hard-to-abate sectors like steel, cement, lime, chemicals, and aviation fuels. 

Prior to his appointment as Chief Executive Officer in November 2022, he held the position of President, working closely with Enviva’s former CEO, Mr. John Keppler, with responsibility for the Company’s activities from the forest, through its operations and logistics, and ultimately to the customers’ discharge. Mr. Meth has led Enviva’s business development, sales and commercial customer relations teams as well as developed and oversaw the fiber procurement and sustainability teams to establish Enviva as an industry leader in environment stewardship and sustainability standards.. In addition, he has had oversight over the broader plant and port operations and global public affairs initiatives. 

Mr. Meth supported Mr. Keppler in the pursuit of transitioning Enviva Partners, LP (NYSE: EVA), now Enviva Inc., to its initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange on April 29, 2015, making it the first publicly traded company in the industry. In 2011, Mr. Meth led the launch of the U.S. Industrial Pellet Association (USIPA), a not-for-profit trade association promoting sustainability and safety practices within the U.S. wood energy industry and expanding wood bioenergy’s market access internationally. Mr. Meth was also the Treasurer and founding board member of #forestproud, a program that is now under the auspices of the Society of American Foresters (SAF) which promotes and supports forest climate solutions.  

Mr. Meth holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration in Austria as well as an M.B.A. from The Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at The University of Virginia. Originally from Vienna, Austria, Mr. Meth currently resides in Washington, D.C. with his wife, two daughters, and their dog. In his free-time Mr. Meth enjoys spending time with his family, playing tennis, skiing and traveling.

Shai Even

Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Even has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Enviva since June 2018. In this role, Mr. Even leads Enviva’s finance, accounting, and IT organization and provides strategic leadership on finance matters, working to scale these functions to complement the company’s growth trajectory and expand our relationships with financial stakeholders. Mr. Even has over 25 years of experience with operational and strategic finance, including in senior financial and management roles at master limited partnerships. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Alon USA Energy, Inc. and served as President and Chief Financial Officer of Alon USA Partners, LP. While at Alon, Mr. Even led Alon’s parent company’s successful IPO on the NYSE in 2005 and the successful IPO of Alon’s master limited partnership in 2012. During his tenure at Alon, he led the company’s two major acquisitions and scaled its finance organization to complement the growth of the company. Prior to joining Alon, Mr. Even served as the Chief Financial Officer of DCL Group in Tel Aviv, Israel, and as an auditor with KPMG. Mr. Even holds a Bachelor’s in Economics and Accounting from Bar-Ilan University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Roxanne Klein

Ms. Klein has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer since December 2021. With years of Human Resources leadership experience in the manufacturing industry, Roxanne has an extensive and proven background building successful talent acquisition and development teams and driving best practices in people management and social impact. Prior to joining Enviva, Ms. Klein spent six years as Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer for Knoll, Inc., one of the world’s leading global manufacturers of office and other furniture. Prior to that, she held progressively increasing leadership roles at Knoll from 2007 to 2015 as well as additional Human Resources leadership roles at Praxair, Inc. and Danaher Corporation. Ms. Klein holds a B.B.A. from Temple University and an M.B.A. from DeSales University.

John-Paul Taylor

senior vice president and chief commercial officer

Mr. Taylor has served as Senior Vice President, Sales & Fulfillment since June 2022 and prior to that, as Senior Vice President, Optimization and Origination since March 2020. He joined Enviva as Vice President, Optimization and Origination in February 2014. He has been an integral part of the sales and marketing team, spending the last several years developing new markets in Asia, most significantly in Japan, and now leads our Asia Pacific team. Mr. Taylor is responsible for sales processes as they relate to managing existing Enviva customer contracts and executing new long-term wood pellet offtakes and related freight contracts, leading Enviva’s contract fulfillment process from inception to fulfillment. He also analyzes the broader market at large in order to deploy customized logistical solutions for customers to improve the Enviva value chain. Prior to joining Enviva, Mr. Taylor served as Vice President of Biomass Brokerage at Evolution Markets, where he developed and grew the company’s biomass business. He holds a B.A. in Commerce and an M.A. in International Economics and Finance from Ryerson University in Toronto and graduated from the Carbon Finance & Analytics Programme at the London Business School.

Yana Kravtsova

Executive Vice President, International Market Development & Public Affairs

Ms. Kravtsova leads the team responsible for International Market Development and Global Public Affairs, ensuring adherence to Enviva’s values across all aspects of our business. She brings over 20 years of experience in the renewable energy industry, leading and executing a broad range of high-profile and complex initiatives in the global arena of law, renewable energy, growth & investments, and corporate governance. Ms. Kravtsova holds a Master of Laws in International Legal Studies from American University’s Washington College of Law and a J.D. from Kuban State University in Krasnodar, Russia.

Royal Smith

Executive Vice President, Operations

Mr. Smith has served as Executive Vice President, Operations since August 2016 and, prior to that, as Vice President, Operations since April 2014. Previously, he served as Director of Operations, NAA Division of Guilford Performance Textiles, a global textile manufacturing company, from March 2012 to July 2014. From August 2010 to March 2012, Mr. Smith also served as Director of Quality, NAA Division. Prior to joining Guilford, Mr. Smith worked as a Plant Manager at Pactiv, a food packaging manufacturer, from May 2009 to August 2010. Mr. Smith served as General Manager of a facility operated by United Plastics Group International from December 2005 to May 2009, after serving in other roles at the company from April 2002. From January 1999 to September 1999, he served as Production Supervisor of The General Motors Corporation, before serving as Mechanical Device/Tool and Die Supervisor from September 1999 to August 2000. Mr. Smith holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from GMI Engineering and Management Institute.

Brandi Colander

As the CSO, Ms. Colander is charged with maintaining and enhancing Enviva’s role as an industry leader in sustainability. With more than 15 years of sustainability, external affairs, and policy experience, Colander is well qualified for this position. Prior to joining Enviva, Colander’s accomplishments span from leading the enterprise sustainability portfolio at WestRock as Chief Sustainability Officer to serving as Associate Vice President, Natural Resources and Energy at the National Wildlife Federation to serving as a Deputy Assistant Secretary for land and minerals management at the United States Department of the Interior. She has also served as Deputy General Counsel for the White House Council on Environmental Quality within the Executive Office of the President and as an attorney at the Natural Resources Defense Council. Colander serves on a number of boards and holds a Bachelor of Urban and Environmental Planning from the University of Virginia, a J.D. from Vermont Law School, and a Master of Environmental Management from Yale University.

Mark Coscio

Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer

Mr. Coscio has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer since September 2022. In this role, he leads Enviva’s corporate development and construction functions. Mr. Coscio has an extensive background managing global engineering, procurement, and construction projects within the energy sector as well as hands-on experience on projects from the proposal phase through execution and commissioning. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President, North, Central & South America at McDermott International, Ltd, after joining the company as Vice President, Petrochemical/Refining Operations in 2018. Prior to that, he held progressively increasing leadership roles at Chicago Bridge & Iron Company from 2007 to 2018.

Mark has a Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering with a project management specialty from Texas A&M University. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Craig Lorraine

senior vice president, fiber, logistics, and port operations

Mr. Lorraine has served as Senior Vice President, Fiber and Sustainability Operations since June 2022 and prior to that, as Senior Vice President, Commercial and Sustainability Operations since April 2021. He joined Enviva as Vice President, Customer Fulfillment in April 2018. He is responsible for executing Enviva’s fiber procurement strategy, ensuring the company has the best-suited fiber to produce our sustainable wood pellets. In addition, he leads port operations, inland logistics, and sustainability operations as it relates to Track and Trace® and the operational audits of Enviva’s plants. Mr. Lorraine brings years of experience in the manufacturing industry where he expanded his knowledge in supply chain management and business development. From July 2014 to April 2018, Mr. Lorraine worked in the automotive industry at Motus Integrated Technologies, serving as a Vice President. Previously, he worked as Director, Global Headliner Products at Lear Corporation for four years and at Piston Automotive as Director of Business Development for six years. Mr. Lorraine holds an M.B.A. from Davenport University and a B.A. in Psychology from Albion College.

Kate Walsh

Vice President, Investor Relations

Ms. Walsh has served as Vice President, Investor Relations since March 2021. Prior to joining Enviva, Ms. Walsh spent six years at EnLink Midstream, an energy company headquartered in Dallas, Texas, where she was Vice President, Investor Relations & Tax. Prior to that, she was the Director of Tax & Investor Relations for Niska Gas Storage, an energy-focused master limited partnership headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Ms. Walsh holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from Dalhousie University, in Nova Scotia, Canada, and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Jason Paral

senior vice president, general counsel, and secretary

Mr. Paral has served as Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, and Secretary since March 2022. He previously served as Vice President, Associate General Counsel, and Secretary from January 2018 and, before that, as Assistant General Counsel from June 2015. Prior to joining Enviva, Mr. Paral was a Senior Associate in the Energy Transactions & Projects practice at Vinson & Elkins LLP where, from February 2008 to June 2015, he represented energy industry borrowers, developers, sponsors, and investors in complex project development and project finance transactions as well as mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions. Mr. Paral holds a B.A. in Political Science from Western Illinois University and a J.D. from The George Washington University Law School.

Mike Johnson

Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer

Mr. Johnson joined Enviva as Vice President, Accounting in June 2021. In this role, he is responsible for managing Enviva’s accounting systems and financial controls with a focus on ensuring timely and accurate internal and external financial reporting and maintaining regulatory compliance. Mr. Johnson is an accomplished finance professional with years of experience as an accounting and controllership leader for public companies within the energy industry. Prior to joining Enviva, he spent three years at SandRidge Energy, an oil and gas company, most recently serving as their Chief Financial Officer. Prior to that, he built a successful 24-year career at Chesapeake Energy Corporation, beginning as Assistant Controller before spending 17 years in the role of Senior Vice President & Chief Accounting Officer. He gained additional audit and financial reporting experience at Phibro Energy Production and Arthur Andersen. Mr. Johnson holds a B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Texas and is a Certified Public Accountant.
